I'm helping a friend fix his spa. We replaced the burned out heater tube and made some minor plumbing repairs. Now, the contactor for the heater is making a "chattering" noise when the thermostat kicks the heater on. What causes this? Can it be fixed or do I need to replace it? How do I determine what part number I need?

1st check the voltage to the coil of the chattering contactor.
Low voltage to the coil can cause this. A drop in pressure from your "plumbing modification" may be causing the pressure switch to flutter causing this as well. If all checks out then replacing the contactor would be the next step. Please check the label for a part number, the most common used over the years is the DPC-120.

Thank you.
